Let Go..

Lent is a season of prayer and fasting. It is the season of the year when Christians focus on simple living, prayer and abstinence in order to grow close to God. We make use of Lent as a time of repentance.

The real aim of Lent is, above all else, to prepare men for the celebration of the death and Resurrection of Christ…the better the preparation the more effective the celebration will be. One can effectively relive the mystery only with purified mind and heart. But how do we attain a purified mind and heart? How do we forgo things and feelings that pollute our mind and heart?

Today I hold on to grudges, ego as any other individual would do. But in my quest to attain happiness and peace, my prayers and observance of Lenten season somehow keep reminding me of my inability of forgiving those who have hurt me or done wrong to me. Hoping this Lent would bring out the good in me, to forget and forgive.

I am happy to share this divine poem by Rabindranath Tagore.  To me it beautifully conveys what I should practice for this Lenten season for a renewed self.

  1. Beautiful poem by Tagore. Though I am aware that it is best to forgive the people who hurt, I still have that feeling of resentment deep within me. Being aware is the first step. Now the next one would be to forgive and let go….. I am trying 🙂🙂

  2. With much respect to our beloved Tagore and your sentiments too. Yet, must we seek God who will help us be what we need to be. In the Temple – His awesome presence fills, where sometimes we are lost at home in the familiarity. God bless us all. Peace!
